The Boy Is Mine

I wasn't really interested in Monica's wedding to former L.A. Lakers Shannon Brown earlier this month UNTIL I saw her wedding gown!  So of course, I researched all of the details, and here they are:

Apparently Monica and Shannon had a secret wedding in November at Monica's home in L.A., and they decided to have a second, more extravagant wedding on July 9.  There were 340 guests, a 40-piece gospel choir, and a few celebrity bridal party members - Kobe Bryant and Ciara.

And the gown?  Feast your eyes on this custom, haute couture gown by Stephane Rolland:

This fitted and corseted Ivory mermaid gazar dress is draped with twisting satin organza.  The best part?  A 12-foot long graphic waves train embroidered with crystal falls!

I'm not sure how she did it, but she managed to change into another dress for the reception - also by Stephane Rolland, but this one was blue to match her color scheme.  I would never want to take this gown off!  Then again, when you have this enormous engagement ring on your left hand, I guess you don't really need to be wearing anything to feel amazing and fabulous...

Save the Date!

It may not have been the best weekend for Marc and J-Lo, but it was a weekend of celebration for Nick and Vanessa!  They tied the knot Friday night at a private island in the British Virgin Islands in front of 35 guests.  When I saw this headline today, I got so excited because it means that the TLC episode is going to air soon!  Mark your calendars and set your DVR - Nick & Vanessa's Dream Wedding premieres on July 30th from 9-11pm.  I cannot wait!

In case you need a little preview, People describes Vanessa's wedding gown as "a two-piece Monique Lhuillier ensemble featuring an intricately embellished lace corset with rose and crystal detail, paired with a signature hand tufted skirt made of silk faille.  The look was completed with a tailored bow belt at her waist and chapel length tulle veil."

Us Weekly couldn't wait either, as they posted some serious stalker paparazzi shots from the big day:

From what I can see, I am loving the chapel length veil and the huge hot pink bouquet (I carried one on my wedding day!).  I'm also anxiously awaiting a view of this bow belt, mainly because I love bows, but also because Vanessa is so skinny-minny, I anticipate the bow belt looking phenominal on her.  I'm usually not a fan of wearing your hair down on your wedding day, but I'll wait til the 30th to make my final judgements!

British Academy of ... What?

Never heard of the BAFTAs?  Me neither!  Thank goodness for Will and Kate showing up there this weekend - gives me a reason to pick out some of the best dressed celebs!

Ah-mazing.  The Duchess wowed the crowd - per usual - in a pale lilac pleated gown by Alexander McQueen.  How is her hair always so perfect?  I'm in love with this look.
Blake Lively looking hot like a goddess in this one-shoulder chiffon Marchesa dress.  I'm happy to see that Blake has returned to her blonde locks!
Jenny Lo showed off her curves in this sexy cut-out Emilio Pucci gown.
Jennifer Garner looks stunning in this elegantly draped navy one-shoulder gown by Yves Saint Laurent.
Nicole Kidman's hair is terrible, but at least she is wearing something pretty to distract me.  No wonder I love it - she wore an embellished gown from Elie Saab Haute Couture.
I'm still trying to figure out why Anna Kournikova was on the red carpet, but at least she was wearing this beautiful one-shoulder gown with cascading ruffles by Tadashi Shoji.
And I know that this has nothing to do with the awards ceremony, but does anyone else find this amusing?!  I wonder who was more awestruck - Kate or Reese!

When in Canada...

While we were grilling hot dogs and watching fireworks over this July Fourth weekend, Kate and Wills were traveling throughout Canada!  The most important part - what was Kate wearing?!

All aboard!  While boarding a private jet at London's Heathrow Airport, Kate wore a dark navy Roland Mouret Manon dress and a SMYTHE One Button Blazer.

Kate disembarked in Ottawa, Ontario with a new look - a navy, lace Cecile shift scoop-backed dress by Erdem Moralioglu featuring sheer lace sleeves with a scallop detail.

Kate went casual for a barbeque in Ottawa in black-and-white wrap dress by Issa, one of the Duchess' favorite designers.

My favorite look! Kate celebrated Canada Day in a cream, wrap-style dress with ruffle detail by Reiss (the same dress that she wore for the couple's official engagement portraits!), paired with the Queen's Maple Leaf brooch, red pumps, and a red fascinator, of course!

Kate commemorated Canada's 144th birthday at a concert with her hubby in a long-sleeved purple Issa dress,  Prada pumps, and the Queen's Maple Leaf brooch.

Looking chic in a grey Catherine Walker dress and snakeskin heels.

At a prayer service aboard the HMCS Montreal in a cobalt blue Jacquenta dress by Erdem...  I wish she would have worn her hair up so we could see the beautiful lace detailing on her shoulders and collarbone!

Sadly, Kate did not save the best for last...  Arriving in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, in a nude Vanessa dress by Joseph.
I can't wait to see what she is going to wear in California!

Sasha Fierce

In celebration of B's new album that dropped yesterday...

See if you can match Sasha Fierce to her diva-licious essentials!

1.  In her "Run the World (Girls)" video, Beyonce does not wear these designer duds:
A.  House of Dereon
B.  Alexander McQueen
C.  Emilio Pucci
D.  Givency Haute Couture

2.  For her 2008 wedding to Jay-Z, Beyonce reportedly did the following:
A.  She made her entrance via helicopter.
B.  She flew in 50,000 orchids from Thailand.
C.  She serenaded Jay-Z with "Dangerously in Love."
D.  She posed with an elephant.

3.  This A-list pal called Beyonce "the most talented human being on the planet":
A.  Cameron Diaz
B.  Celine Dion
C.  Gwyneth Paltrow
D.  Lady Gaga

4.  As a solo artist, Beyonce has ___ Grammy awards:
A. 4
B.  8
C.  13
D.  20

5.  Which domestic chore does Beyonce admit she is terrible at?
A.  Cleaning
B.  Sewing
C.  Cooking
D.  Laundry

6.  Which legend was upset with Beyonce for serenading the Obamas with her song?
A.  Diana Ross
B.  Aretha Franklin
C.  Etta James
D.  Tina Turner

7.  Which star has not parodied Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)"?
A.  Justin Timberlake
B.  Joe Jonas
C.  John Mayer

8.  How many carats is Beyonce's wedding bling?
A.  10
B.  18
C.  20.5
D.  29

ANSWERS

1.  A-House of Dereon.  A diva never wears the same thing twice, as evidenced by the number of costume changes during her first music video from her new album.  She traded in her own label for some high-fashion pieces, including a scarlet Alexander McQueen frock from her own closet!

2.  B-She flew in 50,000 orchids from Thailand.  Mere hours before the top secret wedding, crews delivered floral arrangements, candelabras, and a tent into Jay-Z's Tribeca apartment building.

3.  C-Gwyneth Paltrow.  Earlier this year, Gwyn told Harper's Bazaar U.K., "Beyonce is the most talented human being on the planet.  She has so much mastery over what she does.  It's not even confidence – it's on a whole other level. It's mind-blowing."  I couldn't agree more!

4.  C-13.  This includes the record-breaking 6 Grammys she took home in 2010 for her album I Am...Sasha Fierce.

5.  C-Cooking.  In 2008, she admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that after cooking for Jay-Z a few times, her husband said, "Just don't do it."  Guess that means more dinners out!

6.  C-Etta James. Even though the legend approved of Beyonce's portrayal of her in 2008's Cadillac Records, she said this of serenading the Obamas during their official first dance: "I can't stand Beyonce.  She had no business up there singing ... my song that I’ve been singing forever."  Cat fight!

7.  C-John Mayer.  A diva is often imitated but never duplicated!  JT donned a leotard and high heels to back up B on SNL, while Joe Jonas made his own parody video.

8.  B-18.  After her top-secret wedding, Beyonce flashed a flawless 18-carat diamond, valued at more than $5M.  You know, just a small little something...

SCORING
0-2 correct = Child's Play!  Somebody better ring the alarm because that score would set a diva off!
3-5 correct = Diva-in-Training.  You've got the diva basics covered, but not quite enough to run in B's bootylicious entourage.
6-8 correct = You run the world!  With that score, you've gone above and Beyonce!

Wedding Fever

This weekend, I kicked off my year of weddings (I have 6 total) with Kaleen's bridal shower!  Kaleen was totally surprised and really enjoyed her special day - but how could you not with champagne, Georgetown cupcakes, and so many fun presents!?

Speaking of weddings...

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo's wedding will be on TV!  That's right - TLC will air a special episode several weeks after the couple's wedding, the date of which is secret.  Apparently the episode is going to feature the couple's wedding shower, wedding gown shopping, and the actual wedding day.  To be honest, I could care less about this couple; however, they are both BEAUTIFUL people, so why not get obessed with their wedding!  (Side note - Nick, maybe weddings on TV aren't a great idea for you.)

Cannes' Beauties

The stars really amped up the wow-factor at this year's Cannes Film Festival.  My usual "duds" showed up looking glamorous and classy - not once, but during the entire festival.  Anyone want to join me and buy a week's worth of dresses and go to France next year around this time?!

Angelina Jolie stunned in this chocolate brown, glamorous Atelier Versace gown, which - of course - had her signature thigh-high slit.

Rosario Dawson, when did you get so hot and skinny?  A white and silver Roberto Cavalli strapless gown; a scarlet Roberto Cavalli mermaid gown; a rockin' Roberto Cavalli mini; and a tiered lavender Alberta Ferretti gown with a metallic clutch.

As if Salma Hayek could look anything but gorgeous?  First, in head-to-toe, traffic-stopping Gucci; and for opening night, a gray Gucci Première gown with crystal detailing.

Uma Thurman in a strapless white Versace gown with a low-cut back and a thigh-high slit.

But that isn't all - a white, mermaid-silhouette, cap-sleeve Chanel gown with a metallic VBH clutch and Jimmy Choo sandals; a lacy Dolce & Gabbana dress and Giuseppe Zanotti sandals; and a slim-fitting, rosette-adorned Chanel Haute Couture gray gown.

SJP is making Carrie Bradshaw jealous with a piece from Dolce & Gabbana's star-loved white dress collection and this drop-dead glamorous Elie Saab gown with lace detailing (my favorite gown of the festival!).

I can't even believe it myself, but Kirsten Dunst has made a statement - and it isn't for not wearing a bra.  She looks so sweet in an ethereal Chanel Haute Couture creation; an elegantly textured Rodarte halter gown; a perfectly summery marigold Chloé frock and strappy nude Jimmy Choo sandals; and a radiant pink and silver Chanel Haute Couture.

Gwen Stefani takes the cake for me - best overall look, including hair and makeup.  Even though I'm not usually a fan of a black-and-white palette, Gwen nails it each and every time.  A plunging embroidered Stella McCartney jumpsuit; a cut-out Armani Privé and her signature red lips; and a custom L.A.M.B. gown with haute gold lip gloss to match her metallic belt.

It was a close call, but Rachel McAdams is second runner-up.  I loved her retro, elegant style - a Maxime Simoens Couture white dress and Salvatore Ferragamo peep toes; a Monique Lhuillier gold jumpsuit with a sparkly bust; and a racy lace Marchesa gown

E. I went on this vacation with my “friends,” and they made me have a mental breakdown.
F. I signed up for a reality show with a bunch of crazy bitches.

If you chose mostly A's:

You are NeNe Leakes from Real Housewives of Atlanta
Bold in personality and in looks, you are never, ever the wallflower. Depending on the day, you’re either the life of the party or the end of the fun. You’re sharp and funny, but you also tell it like it is — and if someone close to you does you wrong, you cut them off like BAM! People may or may not like you, but they always know who you are. Still, you do have a soft spot underneath all that attitude; you’re loyal to people who treat you right.

If you chose mostly B's:

You are Teresa Guidice from Real Housewives of New Jersey
Family means everything to you, but shopping ranks a close second. And when you combine the two? Your loved ones are showered with gifts, and your credit cards catch fire from overuse. But life is not all Fendi and rainbows. You also have an explosive temper, and if you’re not careful, it could land you in the slammer. If that doesn’t scare you straight, maybe this will: They don’t allow leopard-print jumpsuits in jail.

If you chose mostly C's:

You are Michaele Salahi from Real Housewives of D.C.
You’ve been trying to find yourself for years, and now you finally have. Except being called a gatecrasher, a fraud, and a liar wasn’t exactly what you had in mind. Underneath all the bad press, you are incredibly strong (who else could handle tons of public scrutiny?), but to unleash your true potential, you need to unload the bad influences in your life and start anew.

If you chose mostly D's:

You are Vicki Gunvalson from Real Housewives of Orange County
You work harder than anybody, and although you care deeply for the people around you, they get tired of playing second fiddle to your job. Try to find some middle ground, and delegate some of your duties at work. Because you know better than anyone that when you DO let your hair down, you can “Woo Hoo” with the best of ‘em! You made all that money, girl … isn’t it time you take time to enjoy the fruits of your labor?

If you chose mostly E's:

You are Kelly Bensimon from Real Housewives of New York City
You mean well, but are often misunderstood — and let’s face it, you probably do a fair amount of misunderstanding, too. If your friends are concerned about your well-being, perhaps you should listen. Focus on what’s most important to you, and try not to get wrapped up in all the drama. Oh, and stop wearing fur!

If you chose mostly F's:

You are Adrienne Maloof from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
You are about as balanced as Real Housewives come. Your career and family are both thriving, which, in turn, leaves you with no tolerance for drama and bullshit. Your friends often call you the peacemaker and look to you for solid, sound advice — just not advice about accessorizing, because that’s one area where you have a tendency to go overboard.
