I. Love. Diamonds.

Super big congrats to my best childhood friend, Stephanie, on her engagement!  Her new fiance proposed yesterday on their 3-year anniversary.  They are definitely a perfect pair, and I couldn't be happier that they are going to tie the knot!

Engagements truly make me so excited.  Of course, I am always overjoyed for the new bride- and groom-to-be.  But really, I remember how exciting it was to be newly engaged.  Especially when you have absolutely no idea in the entire world that he is about to propose.  And then after the man of your dreams gets down on one knee and tells you how much he loves you and wants to spend the rest of his life with you, you get a DIAMOND?!?!  It's seriously too good to be true.

The next several hours/days/weeks after the engagement are absolutely fantastic.  Step one - immediately separate from your future spouse to call all of your relatives and best friends and share the good news.  Step two - which is arguably the most important - change your relationship status on Facebook.  That's right, world, I'm ENGAGED!  Step three - show off the bling.  For the next several months, every single person that you encounter will want to see your left hand.  And let's be honest, you can't blame them.  In fact, you yourself can't stop staring at that ring - while you're driving, typing, pushing the grocery cart, packing your lunch...  oh hell, that thing looks good everywhere!  Step four - "start" planning.  We all know that every bride-to-be has had some parts of her wedding planned before the actual engagement.  Whether she has created a proposed invitation online, including a venue and menu options (what crazy woman would do that?!?), or has created a full-blown wedding binder with ideas for dresses, cakes, and a DJ playlist - it's ok.  There is no shame in that game.

So to all of the single ladies reading this, don't worry - your day will come.  And until then, please continue online wedding research with my full support   :-)

P.S. - I would like to take partial credit for this engagement, seeing as how it came mere hours after my bling-filled poll of the week  :-)
